Laub's Anniversary Win
Just one year ago, Larry Laub was married during the Hawaiian Invitational, traditionally the final stop on the PBA tour. Laub and his wife Pam returned and celebrated their first anniversary as Laub won the annual tournament, staged at various bowling centers on the island of Oahu. The smooth-stroking San Franciscan won the televised championship game from Jay Robinson, 233-201, to pocket $2,000. He was top-seeded in a field that included nine of the PBA's leading money winners, plus representatives of Australia, Japan and Hawaii. In the TV playoffs Tommy Hudson doubled in the 10th frame to nip Gary Dickinson, 209-204, then saw his fortunes go into reverse as Robinson doubled in the 10th and added eight pins for a 202-201 victory. Robinson disposed of Roth, 213-158, then faced Laub for the title. At the end of six frames he held a one-pin lead over his fellow Californian. Laub found the range at that point and struck from the seventh through the 10th frames for a 233-201 victory. TELEVISED FINALS
