Jowdy, who passed away in 2013, had been an integral part of the pro scene for more than 40 years as an instructor to many PBA champions, a bowling ball manufacturer's sales representative and a bowling writer. Easily identifiable at PBA Tour sites with his trademark cigar, he attended more PBA tournaments than all but a few players and PBA staff members. A sales representative, later public relations director and presently PBA Tour consultant for Columbia 300 Industries, the San Antonio native privately coached hundreds of pros. As an advocate for the sport Jowdy provided coverage of the Tour to many of the nation's leading bowling publications, lending a unique perspective aided by his close involvement with the bowlers.
