Frantz, a fine bowler in his own right, is a PBA charter member, and as a successful proprietor was an unstinting PBA booster from the organization's beginning. He is a past PBA president and Tournament Committee member, and he currently serves as the PBA's National Regional Chairman. For many years, Lou also served as chairman of the Bowling Proprietors Association of America (BPAA) Tournament Committee and , as such, was deeply involved in the promotion and staging of the successful BPAA U.S. Open.
