McGrath stunned the pro ranks when he won the very first tournament he entered in the 1965 Portland Open. He went on to win back-to-back PBA National Championships beginning in 1969 and was the Tour's leading money winner in 1970. A lefthander, McGrath recorded another major victory when he downed fellow Hall of Famer Earl Anthony for the 1973 U.S. Open crown at Madison Square Garden in New York. He finished his career with 10 Tour titles and $238,305 in career earnings.
